1.   Downloading & Printing difficulties
    a. Difficulties downloading, saving & printing pdf files

It might help if we run through an imaginary scenario... so ....... lets start with opening
the Homepage... and then selecting and clicking on "Ascent" in the 'Sahaja Culture'
grouping. This is just as an example... ok.

Now the Ascent page opens. In the list called 'Ascent-1' you will see a long line of
choices... starting with Protocol through to Bhakti. Choose one of these, and Right
click on it. You will then get a drop down menu... with some choices - choose the one
that says 'Save Target as...'

On this computer, the file then gets saved automatically to a folder called
'Downloads' with a name like... for example "Breathing_sec_val2.pdf"

So in the step above... choose the subject 'Breathing'... and right click on it... and
'Save Target As...'
Then to find this file... use the "Find Files or Folders" from the 'Start Menu'... and
type in the name of the file... i.e. 'Breathing_sec_val2.pdf', and under 'Look in:'...
choose 'Local hard drives'... then place a tick in 'Include subfolders'... and then hit
the 'Find Now' button. This will show you where the file is being saved. All future
files will be saved to the same place.

To print the pdf file... first you need to open it in Acrobat Reader, by finding the file
on your computer and double clicking it. Then in Acrobat Reader, select the File menu,
and then Print. Don't forget to set the correct printer and also the printer properties.

This should sort out your problem. By the way... when you open any of these pdf files,
they will open in Full Screen mode... with no toolbars visible. What you have to then do
is just hit the Esc key followed by the F9 and then the F8 keys, on your keyboard...
when all will be displayed properly. Alternatively try the 'Ctrl + L' key combination in
Windows or the 'Command + L' in 'Mac' to change the Full Screen mode.

    b. Saving & printing pictures
All pictures displayed on these web pages are 72dpi which is the norm for graphic
files on web pages. They are therefore not suitable for printing.
Very soon, higher quality versions of these pictures will be made available on a
sister web site, with links from SahajVidya to the new site. They will be suitable for
normal printing, but not for enlargements.
Only if there is a demand, will a much higher resolution be made available.

    c. Downloading & printing the charts
All charts are pdf files... so the same procedure applies as in 1a above... except that
your printer needs to be set up for A4 paper... and remember to select the very best
printer settings, regardless of the paper quality used.

2.   Navigating & reading the pages in the pdf file documents
    a. Problems navigating & viewing text in all parts of the 'pdf' document.
With the 'pdf' files that are displayed in this web site, there is no scroll-bar
and so a different way of navigating the pages is required.
To advance the page or indeed to move to the next page... or to move backwards, choose
from amongst the following alternatives and use the one which works for you.
1 - 'Enter' key... 'Shift + Enter' keys...
2 - 'Page Up' or 'Page Down' keys...
3 - 'Left' & 'Right' Arrow keys...
4 - 'Up' or 'Down' Arrow keys...
5 - Ctrl + either 'Home' or 'End' take you to the start or end of the document.
6 - You can also click & drag to move the page forwards or backwards.
7 - Use the 'spacebar'.

    b. File opens in Full Screen mode - after saving or downloading to your computer

Because of the technical requirements demanded by the software packages used to
create both this site and also the documents that are displayed within it... and also
for them to display properly... it has been necessary to set the pdf file attributes to
open in 'full screen mode'.

So if you save any of these files to your computer, and then try to open them, you
will find that they open in Full Screen mode... with no toolbars visible. What you
then have to do is just hit the Esc key followed by the F9 and then the F8 keys,
on your keyboard... when all will be displayed properly. You may need to set the
'Esc' key so that it performs the required action - for this, go to section 5f below
to configure Acrobat Reader.

Alternatively you can use the 'Ctrl + L' combination in Windows or the 'Command + L'
combination in Mac to change the Full Screen mode... and then F9 & F8.

    c. 'Document Status' error message when opening pdf files (see 3g below)

    d. 'Did you notice the Information Bar?' Error notice - I/Explorer SP2 - see 5a
 Return to 'Index'
    e. 'Restriction on showing active content' error message in Internet Explorer
After the new security arrangements made by Microsoft were brought in, you may
start getting an error message which says... "To help protect your security, Internet
Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your
computer. Click here for options..." - The requested document then fails to show.
You then have to click on this message to get the option to "Allow Blocked Content..."
and then you get the question 'Are You Sure...' before the document will finally open.
To get rid of this error message, and stop it from causing a problem in the future, go to
'Tools' and then 'Internet Options' in Internet Explorer. Now select the 'Advanced'
tab, and scroll down to the section on 'Security'. Here you have to put a tick against
"Allow active content to run in files on my computer". Now you will not be troubled
any more with this annoying error message, and the documents will open immediately.

3.   Appearance of the web pages
    a. Correct Fonts needed
For these pages to have the correct appearance and layout... you will need to have the
correct Fonts or 'print character' installed. It is believed that the default set of
Fonts installed on PCs includes the required Fonts. These are Comic Sans and Comic
Sans Bold. If they are not present on your computer, then the spacing and balance
will appear to be wrong. The correct Fonts are available here for installation onto
your computer. As soon as you have the correct Fonts, the site will then appear the
way it was designed. Also see notes provided below for your browser, which can
also affect the appearance of the web pages.
Comic Sans   Comic Sans Bold

You may also find that in your chosen browser there is the possibility to select
a smaller or larger font display size which will affect the appearance of the
pages displayed.

    b. Acrobat Toolbars appearing when they should not
Occasionally, when you first enter the web site and then open a pdf file, the toolbars
suddenly appear when they should not. It can also happen when the 'Rotator' file
comes into effect and displays a subject at random, for the first time. This
immediately corrects itself if you then select once more a pdf file - you can select the
same pdf file if you wish. Alternatively you can simply hit the F8 key - with this, you
may be required to click on the displayed page first... then the F8 key.
This problem is avoided if you open Acrobat Reader before you enter the
SahajVidya web site.

    c. Acrobat Toolbars not visible

This occurs when the pdf files have been saved to your computer. If you then try to
open one of these files, it will appear in Full Screen Mode, with no toolbars present.
This is not a fault - for design reasons, it is necessary to set Full Screen Mode so
that in normal use the Acrobat toolbar buttons are not displayed in the web page. In
order to retrieve the toolbar buttons, so you can print etc., simply choose from the
following...
   a. Hit the Esc key, followed by the F9 & F8 keys.
   b. Hit the 'Ctrl + L' keys (in Windows) or the 'Command + L' keys (in Mac), followed
by the F9 & F8 keys.

    d. Full page not shown - HOME button not visible - see also 3k below...

At the bottom of each page is shown the HOME page button. It is possible that if the
window is not maximised, then this HOME button may not be available. To remedy this,
try enlarging your window to maximum by clicking on the button at the top right of the
screen that looks like... a small square... i.e. the button between the '-' and the 'x'... in
Windows.
Another possibility would be to amend the resolution used on your terminal.
It has also been experienced that the settings in your Browser may affect this. You
can check the size of Font or text being used for display in your Browser. Also in
some Browsers, there are many possible toolbars... and all of them are not essential to
have switched on... so switching off a few unnecessary ones may help.
Lastly, in this section... if you are using Opera 7, and you resize the window with
the 'Restore' button, you may find that the smaller side frames do not resize
automatically. The result is that the 'Home' button at the bottom of the page may not
be visible. Simply hit the Reload button to correct this.

    e. Page not opening in Acrobat Reader

It may sometimes happen that when a subject file is selected, or a pdf file opened,
that all you get is an error message.
In Explorer you might get... "The page cannot be displayed... etc."
In Netscape you would get... a small yellow triangle, plus... "Alert... The file...
xxxx_sec_val2.pdf cannot be found. Please check the location and try again."
  In Mozilla, the same.
In Opera you will get... "Could not open file"... with possibly also... a small red circle
with a white cross.

In all these, it is possible that you need to associate the .pdf file extension with your
Acrobat Reader. The easiest way to do this is to find a pdf file on your computer and
try to open it... by double clicking it or right click and choose "Open"... or if this is not
available, "Open with...". Then in the dialog box, select 'Acrobat'... and 'Always use
this program to open this file' and hit the OK button. Now all pdf files should open
properly.
There is a possible work around... if you do not have any pdf files yet on your
computer... what you can try is to create a dummy pdf file... and use this to create the
file association. However afterwards you should remember to delete the dummy file.
To create the dummy file... first create a simple text file... and change the file
extension from .txt to .pdf - use this to attempt to open it... then select 'Open with...'
and choose Acrobat... and also 'Always use this program to open this file' and hit the
OK button. Now delete the dummy file.
In Acrobat Reader... Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Options'... and under 'Web
Browser Options' make sure there is a tick in all 4 boxes... including 'Display pdf
in Browser'.

    f. Misplaced page elements
This can be due to the particular browser that you are using. Look at the notes
offered on this page for your browser... and also read the help section at 3d above.

     g. 'Document Status' error message when opening pdf files

A 'Document Status' error message appears when you open a 'pdf' file. This happens
every time you click on any topic for display. To make this error message disappear,
go into the Acrobat Reader window, and choose 'Edit'... and then 'Preferences'... and
then select 'Startup' from the list on the left side. In the section called
'Opening Documents', make sure to remove the tick from the box under... Display the
Document Status Dialog for 'Secured Documents'. Make sure you only remove the tick
from the 'Secured Documents'. Then... hit the 'ok' button to finish. Do not close the
Acrobat Reader window, as you will need it to be open whilst browsing the
SahajVidya web site.

     h. 'Did you notice the Information Bar?' Error notice - I/Explorer SP2 see 5a
You may get the 'Information Bar message' which says "To help protect
your security, Internet Explorer stopped this site from installing an ActiveX
control on your computer... click here for options." You can do 1 of 2 things
to solve this problem.
As a temporary measure you can click the Information Bar... and click also
where it says... 'Install ActiveX control' - but you will have to do it each time
it shows.
For a permanent solution, do the following: Go to 'Tools/Internet Options/
Security/Custom Level' now scroll down to 'ActiveX controls & Plugins'
and under 'Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls' choose 'ENABLE'. Hey
presto... no more annoying Information Bar messages for ActiveX content.

     i. Document does not open - empty white space where document should appear

When you click on a link, no document appears, but all you get is a blank white space.
This can happen when you are running version 4 of Acrobat Reader. The solution in
this case is to upgrade your version of Acrobat Reader to version 5. See note 5f below.

If you are not running version 4, then another possible solution might be to go to...
'Detect & Repair' in the 'Help' menu in the Acrobat Reader window... or ultimately if this
does not work, try re-installing the latest version of Acrobat Reader.

     j. No scroll bars for advancing the document page - see 2a above

     k. Font sizes awry - only partial pages are seen - variation of 3d above
It can happen that there is sometimes a strange distortion of the Fonts used on the site. An
important adjustment that you can make is to set your computer to update your 'visited websites'
automatically. Go to Tools > Internet Options > General > Temporary Internet Files > Settings >
'Check for newer versions of stored pages - set to 'Automatically'.
This way you will get the
benefit of accessing newly corrected pages immediately.

4.   Content

  a. Preface

This item may be accessed from the HomePage... top left corner... and does not
need repeating here.

    b. Review

A short note to all who visit this site...

A time to pause and perhaps reflect... and also to maybe review the situation thus
far. This web site is based on a database containing much of what Shri Mataji has
said over the many years... and which was started on 23rd November 1996... almost
7 years ago now. The work has been almost continuous... and is now approaching the
completion of it's first stage.
In looking back over the growth of this project it becomes apparent that the
approach, and the methods employed have also grown... as indeed has no doubt the
compiler also. It can be seen that the techniques and objectives have in their turn also
expanded as time progressed. The principle of remaining true to the original has
remained constant... though the extent of coverage and the amount of material
included for the topic being at that moment considered has grown... so that what was
considered a sufficiently large item for inclusion in the beginning... would now give
way to a more abundant and exuberant entry.
It therefore becomes clear that the texts that are here included, are sometimes
maybe fuller on one occasion than on other occasions... and that the reader is
therefore encouraged to research for himself or herself the original tapes for a more
complete and full account of what was said on any particular occasion.
The method in general was to sieve out all material pertaining to the subject in hand
and to re-assemble that material, together with material obtained from other tapes...
ensuring that there was always a common subject matter... and to thus arrive at a more
rounded and fuller account of what Shri Mataji has said on the chosen subject... whilst
maintaining the original source references. It follows therefore that these are not to be
regarded in the normal way as 'word for word verbatim extracts' from our Mother's
talks... but more as a 'compilation of parts' from many talks... to reveal the more complete
story.
When using this material... if it is printed or otherwise used 'as supplied', or with some
reference to it's source... then there should no difficulties as regards the use of the
contents of this web site to further promote and maintain the purity of the teachings of
Sahaja Yoga... and of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi - which is after all, in our heart of hearts,
what all of us must be desiring.

Jai Shri Mataji
N

    c. Other considerations
Consideration is being given to the possibility of adding a search engine... whenever a
suitable one can be discovered... as the amount of material is getting quite large - and
some assistance in locating the required files is somehow desirable.
There is though just one other consideration... for those who feel that maybe
researching and preparing notes for lectures etc... is the aim... and that is the one of
spontaneity... in delivery perhaps - maybe it is better not to 'prepare' too rigidly our
subject matter... but better to be in a possibly more surrendering mood when talking to
others... and thereby allow the Divine to more easily influence our delivery.

5.   Browsers
    a. Internet Explorer 6 & 7............. http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/

This site was designed initially alongside Internet Explorer 6, so there should be
few problems. However it may be necessary to check and adjust where necessary
your settings... such as the size of font used for display in the Explorer window.
Also having too many toolbars selected may reduce the area available for viewing,
resulting in the loss of the bottom of the pages.
News is that Microsoft have decided to halt development of this browser as
a stand alone application. It will continue as an integral part of future releases
of Windows.
Now we have Internet Explorer 7 and a few new problems to overcome. Firstly
you may again get the 'Information Bar message' which says "To help protect
your security, Internet Explorer stopped this site from installing an ActiveX
control on your computer... click here for options." Here you can do 1 of 2 things.
As a temporary measure you can click the Information Bar... and click also
where it says... 'Install ActiveX control' - but you will have to do it each time
it shows. For a permanent solution, do the following: Go to 'Tools/Internet
Options/Security/Custom Level' now scroll down to 'ActiveX controls & Plugins'
and under 'Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls' choose 'ENABLE'. Hey
presto... no more annoying Information Bar messages for ActiveX content.

Finally, after upgrading to Explorer 7 from version 6, you may start to get some
unusual messages like 'This site uses Java'... and another warning that
' Explorer has stopped this site from loading because it could not verify
the publisher of this site'. After much searching around, it was discovered
that if you ignore the message about the unverified publisher for a while...
and first deal with the Java problem... then the publisher error message
disappears of it's own accord.
Go to "http://www.java.com" and get the Free Java Download. Problem
then disappears.

    ... Internet Explorer SP2 Update

Amongst the new security features for Internet Explorer,
that comes with SP2 update, there is one which you may come across
whilst browsing this site. It's purpose is simply to protect your
computer against possible unauthorised interference, by computer
hackers who gain access via the Web. It is not required here
and can be turned off.

When you click on a 'Link' in this SahajVidya web site, an 'Information Bar'
notice may appear saying 'Did you notice the Information Bar?' - Look for the
'Information Bar' near the top of your browser, which appears just below
the address bar, and runs right across the Explorer window. It is to
alert you to a file being downloaded from the web to your computer.
As you have just requested this file to be downloaded, you can now
click on this bar... and then click on 'Allow blocked content'. [Note - Do
not use the same message that appears in the space created by the missing file,
as this does not work properly, but use the message that appears immediately
below the address bar. If you have used this 2nd message instead, there is
no harm done - just use the correct one next time]

Go to Internet Explorer, Tools menu and click on Internet Options.
Click the Security tab, and then click on 'TRUSTED SITES' icon.
Now click on the 'Sites' button just below the row of Icons to the right.
Then under the 'Add this Web site to the Zone' type the Web address
http://www.sahajvidya.org - or - https://www.sahajvidya.org
The additional 's' in the 2nd scenario signifies that it must be
a secure connection... if that is your wish.

Now you can carry on browsing the SahajVidya Web site at your leisure.

One late breaking news item is that it seems that there are reports that
the SP2 update has one or two unexpected consequences. It has been found
that following installation of SP2 it becomes necessary to re-install some
of your other 'applications' with an XP update/upgrade. This will be
discovered when some features of your other 'Apps' seem to suddenly
disappear or fail to work.

    b. Netscape Navigator 7.2............. http://home.netscape.com
This is a good browser, but has it seems a limited life remaining as far as
future development is concerned.
Go to 'View'... 'Show/Hide'... and switch off any unnecessary toolbars to make for best display.
Go to 'View'... 'TextZoom'... & make sure it is set at 100% (Original Size)
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Appearance'... 'Fonts'... & make sure there is a tick
beside 'Allow documents to use other fonts'.
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Appearance'... 'Colours'... & select 'Always use
the colours & background specified by the web page'.
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Navigator'... 'Helper Applications'... and ensure there
is a tick beside 'Always use the Netscape Plug-in Finder service (PFS) to get Plug-ins'
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Advanced'... 'Cache'... and select 'when the page is out of date', and
place a tick beside 'Prefetch web pages.
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Advanced'... 'Scripts & Plug-ins'... and make sure
there is a tick beside 'Enable JavaScript for Navigator'.
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Privacy & Security'... 'Popup Windows'... ensure there is a tick
against 'Block unrequested popup windows'.
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Navigator'... and here you may wish to insert the following url
as your chosen Homepage:
       http://www.sahajvidya.org/SahajVidya/h1o0m8e_721.htm
This will save time if you regularly browse the SahajVidya website. See also 'StartPage Guard'
which is a small program to protect your browser Homepage from being hacked or changed
without your consent. You can download it from the SahajVidya Tools page, or by clicking here.
Complete by hitting the 'OK' button.

    c. Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7............. http://www.mozilla.org

This browser is practically the same as Netscape Navigator, but has much
more development built in for the future.
Go to 'View'... 'Sidebar'... and deselect all to get best view.
Go to 'Tools'... 'Options'... 'General'... 'Home Page'... here you may wish to insert the following url
as your chosen Homepage:
       http://www.sahajvidya.org/SahajVidya/h1o0m8e_721.htm
This will save time if you regularly browse the SahajVidya website. See also 'StartPage Guard'
which is a small program to protect your browser Homepage from being hacked or changed
without your consent. You can download it from the SahajVidya Tools page, or by clicking here.
Go to 'Tools'... 'Options'... 'General'... 'Fonts & Colours'... and here you should ensure that there
is no tick beside 'Always use my:' Fonts or Colours.
Go to 'Tools'... 'Options'... 'Web Features'... and make sure there is a tick beside... 'Block Popup
Windows' & 'Enable Java & Javascript'.
   Click on 'OK' to finish.

    d. Opera ............. http://www.opera.com

At present there are 3 versions available for assessment here... Opera 5
and Opera 7 and Opera 9.
Opera 5 seems to work the better of the two... with fewer glitches. It is quite fast.
    Opera 5 - go to 'View' and set 'Hotlist-off'; 'Button bar-simple'; 'Status bar-off';
'Window bar-off'; 'Address bar-top'. Also ensure there is a tick beside 'Scroll bars'.
Opera 5 - go to 'File'... 'Preferences'... 'File types'... & select 'Application/pdf'... and
hit the 'Edit' button. Select 'Show with plug-in'.. & 'Acrobat Reader'.
Whilst in this section, you can also check that the 2 'flash' settings are ok... select
'Application/future splash - swf'... hit the 'Edit button' and choose... 'Show with Plugin'
and 'Shockwave Flash'. Now select 'Application/x-shockwave-flash - swf'... and hit
the 'Edit button... and select'... 'Show with Plugin' and 'Shockwave Flash'. Hit the 'OK'
button.
Opera 5 - go to 'File'... 'Preferences'... 'Plugins'... make sure there is a tick beside
'Enable Plugins' and 'Enable JavaScript'... and also... 'Enable Java'... and now hit
the 'Find plugins' button. To complete... hit the 'Apply' button... and/or the 'OK' button.
The pdf files should now display correctly.

Opera 7 is the newer incarnation, and takes a bit of getting used to at first. It is
also quite fast. It has the option for small screen viewing, needed for the recent
development in mobile phones. You will need to turn this off, to be able to view the
web pages normally on your computer terminal. Go to 'View' and untick 'Small screen'.
Opera 7 - go to 'File'... 'Quick Preferences'... and place a tick against 'Enable Java'
and 'enable JavaScript' and also 'enable plug-ins'.
   Opera 7 - go to 'View' and set 'Hotlist-off'; 'Main bar-top'; 'Status bar-off';
'Personal bar-off'; 'Page bar-off'; 'Address bar-top'; 'Navigation bar-off' - you
can choose to turn any back on later if you wish. This will give more room for the
displayed pages. Alternatively you can right click on any bar and choose 'off'. Also
now place a tick beside Scroll bars.
Opera 7 - Go to 'File'... 'Preferences'... 'Toolbars and menus'... find 'Progress bar'
and set to 'off'.
Opera 7 - Go to 'File'... 'Preferences'... 'Multimedia'... and ensure there is a tick
beside 'enable plug-ins' and 'enable JavaScript' and also 'Enable Java'.
Opera 7 - Go to 'File'... 'Preferences'... 'File Types'... make sure there is a tick
beside 'Hide file types opened with Opera'; now select 'application/pdf' and
hit 'Edit'. Now select 'use plug-in' and see that it says 'Adobe Acrobat'. Hit the
OK button.
Whilst here, check that the following settings are also ok... select firstly
'Application/future splash - swf'... hit the 'Edit button' and choose... 'Show with Plugin'
and 'Shockwave Flash'. Now select 'Application/x-shockwave-flash - swf'... and hit
the 'Edit button... and select'... 'Show with Plugin' and 'Shockwave Flash'. Hit the 'OK'

automatically... but you have to hit the 'Reload' button. This problem only exists with
Opera 7... the earlier Opera 5 is ok.

    e. Javascript
To get the maximum enjoyment from the facilities built in to this site, which try
to avoid any static repetitive displays, you should ensure that you have Javascript
turned on. This will ensure that the built-in Rotator tool will be working... and that
as a result you will see a different file or picture displayed each time you visit
any given page. Whichever browser you use, you will need Javascript turned on.

  f. Acrobat Reader   http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html

This is a free Reader that will enable you to open and read pdf files... and also to print them.
Make sure you have version 5 of the Acrobat Reader or later. If you have version 4,
you may well find that the documenmts that you select do not open, and all you get is
a blank white space. The solution could simply be to upgrade to a later version.
To operate correctly, you need to make sure of some settings. So first decide which
version you have and then go to the corresponding section below.

Acrobat Reader Version 5.0
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'General'... 'Accessibility'... & under 'Colour
Scheme' choose 'Use colours specified in the document'.
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'Full Screen'... and place a tick beside 'Escape
Key Exits'.
Go to 'Edit'... 'Preferences'... 'JavaScript'... and ensure that there is a tick beside
'Enable Acrobat JavaScript'.

make sure there is a tick in all 4 boxes... including 'Display pdf in Browser'.

make sure to remove the tick from the box under... Display the Document Status Dialog
for 'Secured Documents'. Make sure you only remove the tick from the

Acrobat Reader window, as you will need it to be open whilst browsing
the SahajVidya web site.

     g. Acrobat Reader Speedup    Download here

There is a small program called "Acrobat Reader Speedup" contained in a zip file which will, together
with it's associated files greatly speed up the opening of pdf files in Acrobat, whichever
version you are running. This will result in much speedier display of files in the SahajVidya
web pages, and is recommended for a more enjoyable experience whilst browsing this site.

To find this file, go to 'Tools' in the SahajVidya section at the bottom right hand corner of the
HomePage and click on 'Acrobat Reader Speedup'. Download this file as a WinZip file and paste it
into a new folder calling it something like 'Acrobat Reader Speedup Files', alongside your Acrobat
Reader folder, and extract all the files.
Then run the file called 'Reader SpeedUp.exe' and follow the instructions. It might help to first
read the 'ReadMe.txt' file to understand a little bit what you are doing.
Alternatively, you can click on the Download link above.

     h. StartPage Guard   Download here
The Home Page that you set in your browser can sometimes change without your permission - this
can easily be prevented by downloading and running a small program called 'StartPage Guard'
in which you paste the url of your chosen web site. This means that you will always have your
browser opening with the site you wish, and not what someone else wants.
To get this file, go to 'Tools' in the SahajVidya section at the bottom right hand corner of the
HomePage and click on 'SP Guard' or use the link above.
For your convenience, in case you may wish to use the SahajVidya website as your chosen Home
page in your browser, the url to paste into the StartPage Guard is given here:

     i. Anti-Virus Protection ............. http://www.grisoft.com
This site is protected by an Anti-Virus program... which is constantly updated.
There seems to be a very big increase in activity of viruses recently... and if you
do not have protection... and have so far got away with it... please think again...
and install a reliable anti-virus program.
If you send e-mails that are infected they will get deleted without even being
read... so do take the trouble to get anti-virus protection.
There is a very good product that is, believe it or not, free for personal use.
The company relies on good reviews from private users to introduce it to their
work places for commercial use... so it's a marketing ploy, that we can take
advantage of. In a recent review by Internet Advisor, this product came out top
of the list. It provides free unlimited updates.
The address is www.grisoft.com and the product is AVG Antivirus.

     j. ALL Browsers - pdf files not opening inside browser, but opening in separate window

Are the PDF files opening properly inside your browser?? - They should do!
(PDF files are the Topics or subject documents that comprise the bulk of this site).

Do you have trouble with pdf files littering your desktop - refusing to open tidily
inside the browser of your choice? or too many windows opening when browsing this site?
Well... NOW YOU NO LONGER NEED TO SUFFER!
If you use any of these browsers?...
Mozilla - Opera - Safari - Firefox - Netscape
Then read on... we have some good news for you...

Some research has recently been done... into finding out why there was this problem in some browsers.
Now the good news is that the solution has been found - with some very simple adjustments,
you can now get your browser operating the way you want
.

This works well with:
Internet Explorer 6 - the most popular browser... used to design this site - no problem with this browser.
Netscape Navigator - the second most popular browser.
Mozilla Firefox - the third most popular browser.
Opera - less popular.
Safari - less popular.
Netscape Communicator - this remains the sole browser which fails to work as desired.
If you are using this program, then it is suggested that you change to another browser...
because now all the others can be made to operate correctly.
(The necessary file is called a plugin and is named: nppdf32.dll - it is
installed by Acrobat to the browser's plugin folder).

THE SOLUTION
FIRST OF ALL BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM & DATA FILES
no responsibility accepted for any problems... ok?
If you need to... get an expert with computers to make the adjustments for you.

The solution is simple... really. Just follow these instructions carefully.
All we are going to do is simply to 1. Close your Browser   2. Open Acrobat   3. Deselect 'Display PDF in browser'   4. Close &
then restart Acrobat and finally   5. Reselect 'Display PDF in browser'. That's all... your browser will now work perfectly.
So now in more detail...
Step 1. First... close ALL your browsers!
(There is no need to reboot at this stage, but if you do experience difficulties,
you can re-follow these instructions and perform a reboot at this point... and then do not open your browser)
Step 2. Make sure you have only 1 version of Adobe Acrobat on your computer - if you have more, uninstall
all of them in Control Panel. (At this stage it is useful, I have found, to clean the registry, using
Max Registry Cleaner, to remove all the junk that is left over).
Reboot, and now reinstall just 1 of the Acrobat Reader programs... and jump to step '4'.
Step 3. If you have only the 1 version of Acrobat, you can ignore step '2' above. Now open Acrobat Reader...
and go to 'Edit' > 'Preferences' Select 'Internet' and remove the tick from 'Display PDF in browser'
Click on 'OK' and close Acrobat... and reboot.
NEARLY THERE!
Step 4. Open Acrobat once more, and again go to 'Edit' > 'Preferences'
Select 'Internet' and this time add a tick beside 'Display PDF in browser'... and click on 'OK'.
Step 5. Finally, once more, in 'Edit' > 'Preferences', go to 'Startup' and remove the tick
beside 'Display Splash Screen'... then 'OK'.

Now when you open your browser, it will work just the way you always wanted.
There remain a few adjustments inside your browser to make sure it fully works the way you want.

ADJUSTING YOUR BROWSER
Whichever browser you choose, you may wish to make some or all of the following tweaks:
• The first time that you use your browser to view the SahajVidya web site, you will find that
you need once more to install the Acrobat Reader Speedup files that you set up before.

Also in some browsers, a message pops up that says:
"One or more pdf documents are open inside a web browser. If you exit Acrobat now,
those documents will be closed. Are you sure you want to exit?" Be ready for this.
You will have the choice to... Exit or Cancel. Choose Cancel. (If you delay too long in responding,
the process will expire... and you will have to start all over again from step 1).

• You may wish to creat a bookmark, or indeed set your Home page to SahajVidya.
(the url for this is: http://www.sahajvidya.org/SahajVidya/0h1o0m8e_721.html)

• The web site was designed with a medium sized font or text size. When it is opened in a browser, this
text size displays sometimes as smaller than intended, sometimes larger, depending on
the browser used. In all cases, there is a place where it is possible to set the text viewed to a larger
or smaller size... to suit individual preferences.

• If you decide later on to install a new or different browser, or indeed to re-install your current
browser... then you might possibly find that the pdf files once again fail to open inside the browser.
In this case you will need to 1. close the browser 2. open Acrobat 3. remove 'Display pdf in browser' 4. close
Acrobat & possibly reboot 5. Now open Acrobat & set 'Display pdf in browser' again. In this case you will again
need to be ready for the pop up message... asking to either... Exit or Cancel. Choose 'Cancel'.
~ The end ~

enjoy
